Managed by the Co-operatives Secretariat, the Research and Knowledge Development component of CDI is designed to undertake and encourage policy research and applied research that will advance co-operative development and growth. The Rural and Co-operatives Secretariat is launching a first call for proposals under the Research and Knowledge Development (RKD) component of the Co-operative Development Initiative program.
The objective of RKD is to encourage research and dissemination projects that will advance the understanding of co-operatives’ contributions to addressing challenges in the following three program priority areas:
1. Local community economic development
2. Changing community demographics
3. Low-carbon communities
Eligible recipients are co-operatives, not-for-profit organizations, universities and colleges, as well as individual researchers and co-operative developers who are working in collaboration with an established co-op sector or research entity.
The deadline for project submissions is December 20, 2010.
